Nagpur: The fourth round of surveys by ASHA workers and breeding checkers revealed persistent mosquito breeding sites across Nagpur, even as the cumulative dengue tally for 2025 reached 60 cases and chikungunya 12. Since September 1 till date, the city has recorded 13 new dengue cases and two of chikungunya.According to data from NMC’s health department, of the 28,604 houses inspected from September 1 to 11, as many as 1,002 were found breeding mosquitoes. Out of 65,373 containers checked, 1,491 were detected with mosquito larvae.Satranjipura and Laxmi Nagar zones were the worst affected. Satranjipura recorded 143 contaminated houses and 190 infected containers, while Laxmi Nagar reported 139 houses and 212 containers breeding mosquitoes. Gandhibagh (129 houses, 196 containers), Ashi Nagar (114 houses, 161 containers), and Nehru Nagar (123 houses, 178 containers) also showed significant contamination. Mangalwari zone, which saw the widest coverage, reported 93 contaminated houses and 145 infected containers, while Hanuman Nagar (91 houses, 118 containers) and Dhantoli (98 houses, 153 containers) also reflected substantial breeding.Progressive figures since August 1 underscore the scale of surveillance: Over 17.2 lakh houses were inspected, with 80,194 found contaminated, while 34.8 lakh containers were checked, of which over 1.07 lakh were infected.NMC medical officer (health) Dr Deepak Selukar said intensified fogging, larvicidal treatment, and awareness drives are being undertaken across all 10 civic zones, particularly in hotspots like Satranjipura, Laxmi Nagar, Ashi Nagar, and Gandhibagh.
