Kanpur: Suspended inspector Sabha Jeet Mishra, an associate of Akhilesh Dubey, was arrested by Gwalatoli police on Friday evening for illegally occupying three ‘bighas’ of valuable Waqf land. The police summoned Sabha Jeet to the station under the pretext of questioning.Sabha Jeet had attempted to run over an individual with a truck to prevent advocacy against Dubey and threatened to send Rs 5 lakh rupees to Dubey. The land in question was originally sold by Nawab Mansoor Ali to Sheikh Fakhruddin Haider in 1892 in Civil Lines. Fakhruddin, having no children, donated the land to Waqf with the condition that the caretaker (Mutawalli) would be his descendant. In 1911, Fakhruddin’s cousin Hafiz Haleem was granted a 99-year lease, after which six or seven tenants settled on the land. The lease expired in 2000, prompting Parayed Nawab Ibrahim’s fifth-generation descendant, Moinuddin Asif Jah, to seek eviction of the tenants, leading to a court case. This period saw the emergence of Akhilesh Dubey’s gang. Dubey, along with his associate Rajkumar Shukla from Kidwai Nagar, intimidated some tenants and offered money to others to obtain power of attorney in his name. One tenant, Munni Devi, died in 2015. In 2016, another woman was falsely presented as Munni Devi, and power of attorney was obtained using forged documents. Dubey, his daughter Soumya Dubey, brother Sarvesh Dubey, Jaiprakash Dubey, Shivang Singh alias Pappu, and Rajkumar Shukla were accused of occupying approximately three bighas of Waqf land. Dubey constructed the Aagman Guest House and offices on the land, renting out areas and earning lakhs of rupees monthly. 80-year-old Moinuddin Asif Jah lodged a complaint with the Waqf Board, reporting that in April 2024, Shivang Singh and inspector Sabha Jeet threatened him to cease his advocacy. They warned that failure to comply would result in false charges and demanded an immediate payment of Rs 5 lakh to Dubey. When Jah sought court intervention, the accused continued their threats. While travelling to Lucknow for legal proceedings, the accused attempted to run Jah over with a truck. Frightened, Jah ceased leaving his house but continued to pursue the land dispute through his lawyer and appealed to the police commissioner.A Special Investigation Team uncovered the fraud, and based on Jah’s complaint, a case was registered at Gwalatoli police station on Aug 13 against Akhilesh Dubey, Soumya Dubey, Sarvesh Dubey, Jaiprakash Dubey, Shivang Singh alias Pappu, Rajkumar Shukla, and inspector Sabha Jeet, resulting in Sabha Jeet’s suspension.
