Mangaluru: Officebearers of more than 1,500 cooperative societies from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will take part in Dharma Jagruti Yatre to stand in solidarity with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, in Dharmasthala on Sunday.South Canara District Central Co-Operative (SCDCC) Bank director Shashikumar Rai Bolyottu told reporters cooperative leaders will arrive in Dharmasthala in nearly 3,000 vehicles. “With an aim to stand in solidarity with Dharmasthala temple and its Dharmadhikari, we will take out a yatre, which will commence from Ujire at 12 noon and proceed towards Dharmasthala. Dharmasthala, a most revered pilgrimage centre with centuries of history, is a symbol of coexistence. Cooperative societies from the Undivided Dakshina Kannada, under the leadership of SCDCC Bank chairman MN Rajendra Kumar, will stand with Dharmasthala and oppose the conspiracies of miscreants…,” he said.The march will demand the protection of dharma. Further, the participants will oppose the false propaganda and conspiracies that target the religious institutions, he said, adding: “The cooperative movement in the region has always upheld the ideology of harmony and mutual coexistence. Further, the cooperative sector holds deep respect and devotion towards Dharmasthala shrine. We would like to send a strong message to those who are hatching conspiracies to defame the temple.” SIT probe must not be weakened: ActivistActivist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody reiterated his demand for justice in the Sowjanya murder case and the alleged mass burial case in Dharmasthala, warning against attempts to weaken the Special Investigation Team (SIT, which is probing the case) set up by the state govt. In a video release, Thimarody said while the SIT is moving in the right direction and has been welcomed by all those fighting for justice, “a few vested interests are trying to dilute its efforts”. To strengthen the probe, he announced plans to hold a massive silent protest in Belthangady. “Lakhs of people will join this peace gathering. Dates will be announced soon,” he added.
