Rajkot: Rajkot rural police have booked five brothers for allegedly grabbing a 5,000 square metre industrial plot, worth around Rs 1.40 crore, at Shapar Veraval in Kotda Sangani taluka of Rajkot district. Shapar Veraval is an industrial area with an engineering industry cluster. Omkarsinh Jadeja lodged an FIR at Shapar Veraval police station under the Gujarat Land Grabbing Act against five brothers — Puna Vala, Kalu Vala, Gokal Vala, Sumsar Vala and Rana Vala. According to Jadeja, he owns the land jointly with his mother. He alleged that the accused were in unauthorized possession of the plot for 15 years and even built houses on it. Despite being asked to vacate, they ignored the eviction notices. Jadeja submitted documents proving his ownership to the Rajkot district collector in 2023 with a request to act against the accused under the Gujarat Land Grabbing Act. After an investigation, the collector’s office found Jadeja’s claim to be valid and directed the Rajkot rural superintendent of police to register a complaint. Police said the plot was converted for industrial use and its market value is Rs 1.40 crore. The accused allegedly grabbed the land by force. Further investigation is underway.
