Kanpur: A forest department team investigating illegal logging in the Nawada Bahadurpur area of the Lakhna range’s Lavedi in Etawah was attacked by forest mafias on Thursday afternoon, causing injury to the deputy ranger.The forest staff transported the injured deputy ranger to the hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently referred to the district hospital. Ranger Pradeep Kumar stated that a complaint was filed against the accused at the Lavedi police station, and higher authorities were informed about the incident. Further action will be taken as per their instructions.The injured deputy ranger stated during treatment that the mafia not only assaulted him but also stole his gold chain and wallet. Furthermore, the attackers threatened him, saying they attacked him today and would continue to do so, leaving him with no chance of survival.SP Rural, Shri Chandra, on Friday stated that based on deputy ranger’s report, a case was filed under serious charges against three named suspects and others. The suspects have a criminal history and were involved in several cases before, he said.
