Prayagraj: The 20th convocation of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj on Sept 15 will feature the awarding of 27 gold medals. Notably, 15 of these will be awarded to female students, highlighting their academic excellence.The event will be presided over by governor and chancellor Anandiben Patel while Prof Uma Kanjilal, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi will be the chief guest. Higher education minister Yogendra Upadhayay and minister of state of higher education Rajni Tiwari will be the special guests. “Degrees will be conferred upon students who passed the university examinations held in the December 2024 and June 2025 sessions. A total of 28,421 students are eligible to receive their degrees, including 17,268 males, 11,152 females, and one transgender student,” vice chancellor of the lone open university of the state, Prof Satyakam, told mediapersons on Saturday. The degrees will also be uploaded on Digi-Locker, Prof Satyakam said adding that all preparations have been completed. So far, 1,537 students have registered online to receive their degrees during the event, which will be conducted with students dressed in traditional Indian attire. Highlighting some special awards, Prof Satyakam announced that the Chancellor Gold Medal will be awarded to Uma Yadav, a BSc student enrolled at the Regional Centre, Ayodhya. She was recognised as the best among undergraduate and postgraduate students from various schools of the university. Additionally, the university will award gold medals to seven toppers in postgraduate categories across different schools. The ceremony will also honour 12 meritorious students with Donor Gold Medals, he added.
