Madikeri: The 47th Gonikoppa Dasara Janotsava, organised by Sri Cauvery Dasara Samiti, promises a vibrant celebration this year with a range of cultural and competitive events lined up in Gonikoppa. The festivities will commence with Children’s Dasara on Sept 23. The opening day will be dedicated to children aged 5 to 15, featuring a slow cycling contest, sack race, group dance performances, disguise competitions and cultural programmes. Children can also participate in a clay model-making contest. For further information, interested persons can contact Thirunellimada Jeevan or TK Vamana.On Sept 26, a state-level multilingual poetry conference will be jointly organised by the Sri Cauvery Dasara Samiti and Ponnampet Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat. The event welcomes original, unpublished poems in languages including Kannada, Kodava, Tulu, and others. Poems should be limited to 16 lines and must be submitted by Sept 17. The Youth Dasara on Sept 28 will feature a district-level cycle race for under-15 participants, a blood donation camp in partnership with the Red Cross, and a thrilling bike stunt show. The highlight of the day will be a state-level dance competition, offering attractive cash prizes for the top three performers. Registration for the dance contest will close on Sept 25.
