Kanpur: Police arrested and sent a local hoodlum to jail for allegedly slapping and spitting on the face of a class 11 student in retaliation for her protest against harassment. The student’s mother filed a complaint against the accused on September 10. The accused had been harassing her daughter for the last three years. On the evening of Sept 8, while her daughter was returning home from coaching, accused, along with eight to ten youths blocked her path and forcibly tried to take her along by grabbing her hand. When the girl resisted, accused slapped her three times and spit on her face. He also assaulted her friend and two others who protested against the beating.
