T’puram: A 17-year-old girl residing at Kalippankulam near Manacaud went missing from home on Thursday night.Fort police began a probe after registering a case under section 57 of the Kerala Police Act. The girl, who is five feet tall and of medium complexion, was wearing grey jeans and a black and white shirt when she went missing.Police said the girl’s photo was shared across all police stations, railway stations and bus depots. Tamil Nadu police were also alerted. “The girl was not using a mobile phone, which makes tracing her much more difficult,” police said.An 18-year-old youth residing within the Nemom police station limits also went missing at the same time and police suspect a link between the incidents. “Nemom police registered a missing case to probe the boy’s disappearance. The missing youth and the girl were friends. However, only after tracing them will we be able to confirm anything,” police said. If she is with the boy, chances are high for booking the youth for abduction and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, police informed. “The boy left home without taking a mobile phone and the probe is focusing on CCTV visuals,” police added.
