Patna: A 20-year-old youth, Saurabh Kumar alias Golu, drowned in the Burhi Gandak river in Samastipur district on Saturday. His family alleged foul play, claiming he was assaulted and forcibly drowned after fleeing the spot of a road accident. The incident took place at Dihuli village under Angar Ghat police station area. According to Saurabh’s family, he was travelling with his friend Kundan Kumar on Friday morning when their vehicle met with an accident near Angar Ghat. In a panic, Saurabh reportedly jumped out of the car and tried to escape, but was caught by locals who allegedly beat him up and drowned him in the river.Rosera SDPO Sanjay Sinha said that police are investigating the allegations. “We are probing all possible angles, including the possibility that Saurabh may have jumped into the river out of fear following the accident,” he said.
