An Indian man was arrested and charged with several sex crimes in Davidson County, North Carolina after it was found that he traveled from India to North Carolina to meet a girl with whom he claimed to be in a long-term online relationship. The girl was found to be 17 years old. 31-year-old Prit Pankaj Jain was speaking to the girl, hiding his age and presenting himself as a much younger person.According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to the Meadowlands community on September 24 by an Uber driver, who had concerns about a passenger he had just dropped off in the area.Two weeks before Jain’s arrival in North Carolina, the girl broke up with him and blocked him after she learned his real age. They had been chatting on all social media platforms for two years and Jain knew the girl’s address. After the girl broke up with him, he threatened that he would release all explicit material they had exchanged.The sheriff’s office says that Jain groomed the victim online. The warrants state that he had recorded videos of the victim engaging in sexual activity. He was charged with four counts of first-degree exploitation of a minor, four counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor and one count of sexual extortion and given no bond.When the police reached the spot and made contact with Jain, he told them that he wanted to leave gifts for his girlfriend. Deputies then discovered that the girlfriend he was referring to was a juvenile.“Investigators determined that Jain subsequently traveled from his home in Mumbai, India, to the United States in an attempt to re-establish contact with the female juvenile,” the sheriff’s office said. The investigators believed that Jain was also aware of a secondary address for other family members.
